Feb 23 Dinner news | events coming up

The plate count indicated 369 students served tonight, the first dinner after reading break. A great crowd of very mellow, rested students. Dinner was regularly punctuated with announcements of the score in the big Canada-Germany hockey game.

Line-up started 5:45. Next we we expect an earlier line-up, so come by 5:15 to assure you get a seat in the “first sitting.” See you March 2!

Upcoming things:

February 27, 2010 at 6 pm. Fundraiser for Madrona Farm at EBC:. Madrona is an organic farm at the foot of Mount Douglas Park, which supplies produce to over 3500 homes in the Greater Victoria region. David and Nathalie Chambers, the farmers, have a lease on the land, but recently it has gone up for sale. Unfortunately, the land is not required to remain in food production, so The Land Conservancy has partnered with David and Nathalie to try to raise enough money to save Madrona Farm and protect local food production. They have almost reached their goal but still need our help! RSVP to Cali: cjolleck [at] uvic.ca. Potluck dinner. Everyone needs to bring a dish, their own plates and cutlery, and a donation for the farm. Live music from the band West My Friend.
